Welcome to
2 Enlighten.

2 Enlighten is a book club designed to nourish the minds of those incarcerated through the reading and reporting of select books based mostly on philosophy, spirituality, business and entrepreneurship. It was created through the prison penpal relationship of 2 people - Alex Avakian and Tacorey Killebrew, who is still currently incarcerated in Pinckneyville Correctional Center in Pinckneyville, IL.

The rules are simple - inmates can check out 1 of over 100 different books. Once complete, they must submit a book report reflecting on the knowledge gained from their title.

Their book reports are posted here.

The act of reporting on the knowledge gained helps solidify the lessons, and helps improve reading and writing skills. The act of putting their work into the public space gives them both connection and purpose with the outside world.
